CHARLES W. MCMONNIES graduated from the School of Optometry, University of New South Wales: B.Sc (1966) M.Sc. (1970).DSc 2015 and practised as an optometrist in Sydney 1966-2007 with special interests in contact lenses, dry eye syndromes and children’s vision. He is a member of Council for the International Society of Contact Lens Research and a member, Past President and a Fellow of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia. He is a life member of the Corneal and Contact Lens Society of New Zealand.
Former Presiding member and member of the Board of Management for the Optometric Vision Research Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors, Brien Holden Vision Institute.
Lecturer, tutor, and clinical supervisor (Bachelor and Master of Optometry degrees School of Optometry and Vision Science, UNSW 1969-2000) and currently an Adjunct Professor. He is the author of 3 books, 6 text book chapters and over 150 scientific and clinical papers.
In 2015 he graduated Doctor of Science in recognition of his research and contributions to the literature.
